SAS Rugby happy with SASRII’s performance in first practice chukkas

The SAS Rugby coaching staff was happy with the performance of the SAS Rugby International Institute players in their first practice chukkas of the programme.

According to Head coach Chris Rossouw they were satisfied with the way the players showed what they learnt since January. The players from SASRII and Tiger Rugby Africa played against a Maties Barbarians team. It was the first opportunity the players got to show their worth on the playing field.

“It was great to see the players keeping to a good structure in general play. This helped to keep possession for various phases and score some spectacular tries,” said Rossouw.

He added: “The defence was also really good which made turnover possession and tries from this possible. And to top it all off the players showed great fitness levels.”

The SASRII and Tiger Rugby Africa players will play some more practice chukkas this coming Thursday at Markötter.

“We would like to play with the same control as last Thursday. But this time with more control of the ball in contact. We worked on it this week and believe the players with be better this time around.”

Ernst Joubert is the Head of SASRII. Rossouw coaches along with Corne Uys, Neil de Kock and head of SAS Rugby Jacques Hanekom.
